Record breaking walk for Harry Perkins

Over 750 walkers took part in the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers, charging across Perth over 2 and 3 April, completing  the 60km walk while raising a record breaking $2.3 million, benefiting Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

Partnering with Western Australia’s premier adult medical research institute, which has a new Centre for Women’s Cancers, in 2015, Hawaiian came on board as the sponsor partner for this year’s two day charity walk.

Hawaiian Director, Kate O’Hara said partnering with the Institute was inspired by the number of lives in Hawaiian’s communities could potentially be changed by the research led by the Institute.

“The potential number of lives that the research led by the Institute could save in our communities is immense and we want to help them achieve this.” Ms O’Hara said.

“Spending the weekend walking and hearing these women’s stories has been an incredibly humbling experience. We are proud to have played a role in sharing the stories and raising awareness with Perth.” Ms O’Hara continued.

We thank everyone that took part in the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers and look forward to announcing what Hawaiian and Harry Perkins Institute have planned for 2017.
